Going to Cabo was definitely a last minute decision but one of the best! River had initially invited me to Cabo ages ago but I hadn’t thought much until it hit me that I wasn’t doing anything for spring break. I didn’t need much convincing after looking at the photos of her house and took it as my sign to live out my last college spring break to the fullest! According to my brother, Cabo was nothing but tequila, rum, and I love Cabo shirts but given that we were staying at a private residence away from downtown, I was optimistic.
The trip included 7 of us in total, all of which were River’s friends, some of whom I knew and some of whom I was meeting for the first time. River's house was absolutely breathtaking! It was nestled 45 minutes from the airport in Los Cabos San Jose, Mexico which is the Northern part of Los Cabos. To get there you had to take a very windy unpaved dirt road which I barely survived. The only thing that kept me alive was the many cows I saw along the way. My fwends! The house featured a private beach, infinity pool, so many outdoor spots to just kick back and relax, and my favorite spot - the third story terrace. From the terrace, you could see a 360 view of the whole property. It was so gorgeous to be able to stay right on the beach! I love the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and being able to look out at the endless ocean on the horizon. Once we got home, we immediately hit the infinity pool and then ran down to the beach. The water was a very pretty color and I could stay in the ocean for hours. I loved it so much! It was so relaxing and gave me a feeling of freedom to be able to swim in the open ocean. While we were in the water, we spotted something moving in the distance. As we focused it turns out there were tons of humpback whales flipping and moving their fins in the water in the distance. It was a spectacular sight to see! I had never been whale watching before so I perched myself up on the ledge and just watched these massive creatures as they came to the surface. They were quite far out and I wish I was just a tiny bit closer to see them better! There was a large boat out in the water and I can only imagine that they were getting quite a spectacular show.
We decided to cook dinner at home and made quesadillas with homemade guac and pico de gallo. River even made me a cute little watermelon drink in a cactus glass!
