Never have I ever slept through a flight. Missed a flight, yes, I've done that twice, one international and one in Europe. Sleeping through a flight was a new accomplishment though. I was so exhausted from the Alhambra I slept through both of my alarms that went off at 3:30am for my 6 am flight back to Brussels. I had arranged an Uber the night before too and he was texting me at 4:14 am where I was.
I immediately knew I had missed it when I woke up at 7am feeling way to rested so I proceeded to book a new flight on Ryanair going to Eindhoven which would be closer than Brussels airport.
I was desperately looking for things to do with my extra day in Seville. I started with eating brunch at a little cafe and then strolling through the Parque De Maria Luisa. The park was so huge that even though I had walked through it previously, I was able to explore new parts and just relaxed there for a while. On my way out I passed through the beautiful Plaza de Espana for the third time now. It never gets old and each time I enter through a new entrance that is equally as beautiful and covered in Spanish tiles.
The one thing I had just passed by was the Torre del Oro. This golden tower is a military fortress from the 1200s. Inside, it has a naval museum of the history of the largest sea expeditions including Christopher Columbus's landing in America. The museum was small with not many portraits but it was worth it to kill some time. I climbed to the top for a panoramic view of the whole city. It was cool to finally see just how big the Seville cathedral is because when you are anywhere near it, it is too big to see in full.
I walked around a little bit more around the main square scoping out lunch places before taking the bus to the airport. I was annoyed that I missed my flight since I also have a one day turnaround to move out of Maastricht and pack up all my things.
