Monsoon season was in full swing! I woke up early and went for a run at the Hill hoping to beat the rain. I thought by coming in September I would have missed monsoon season but apparently it spans June to September. The amount of rain and how hard it pours still shocks me. Not sure I will ever get used to the rain but at least I beat the rain that morning.
Rainy day also means staying indoors so I hit up Noel to see if he was free. He mentioned yesterday that there was a new Shah Rukh Khan movie out and that there was no chance he could drag Sonali or Daniel along so I happily agreed to go with him. He brought along a friend Gabby as well! I really liked Gabby and thought it was so cool that she is a makeup artist. We decided we would go running together at the Hill one of these days.
The movie starring Shah Rukh Khan was titled Jawan. I had asked Noel if there would be English supertitles but it was unclear. Turns out Gabby did not know Hindi either so we put Noel in between and every-time we needed a translation we turned to him. For the most part we understood what was going on as Bollywood movies are the most dramatic. At one point it seemed the movie had abruptly ended but it turns out there was a 30 minute intermission. Let’s just say we arrived at the theater at 1:50pm and left at around 5:30pm. The movie was that long. It was also full of subplots as if it were an entire TV series linked together. Despite not understanding Hindi, I really loved the movie. I found it really funny and so over the top dramatic! T’was a good rainy day.
For dinner we ate at a thali restaurant called Jai Hind. I was really excited for my first thali in Mumbai and loved it! I had a neer dosa thali with Surmai. It was really yummy and we also ordered crabs and prawns to go with it. I was truly having my fill of seafood here!
Noel dropped me home on the bike which made me really happy! I love the feeling of my hair blowing in the wind and the fresh air. I also love the little bit of adrenaline I get from being on the bike. I told Noel to rate me as a passenger princess and his only comment was he had never had anyone hold onto him as tightly as I did. He reassured me I just needed to ride more often.
